The Garage Sale Trail - The Most Epic Of All Sales.

Happy Friday! Thank god you are here.

So I am pretty damn excited about what the date is tomrrw, It is a date I have been looking forward to all year! For those of you who don't know [which I cannot understand] tomorrow is the greatest Garage sale of all time, The Garage Sale Trail!

Do you love it when you find a garage sale happening while wandering down a street, do you love hunting for treasures in other people's houses?! Of course you do! It is one of my favourite things to do, bargain and treasure hunting so that fact that this event is a day dedicated to people having garage sales, well to be honest I am a little overwhelmed with excitement.

I might even go as far to say I am a bit anxious!

I have set up a trail page that I will be using tommorow, you can find it here:

http://www.garagesaletrail.com.au/mytrail/14217

I am after a wicker chair and baskets, always baskets. Also if any tropical treasures catch my eye and lamps or shades! I would enjoy finding....

I will be using the hash tag: TheTrail on Instagram and will post pictures of my findings!

This is what they believe and I am 100% behind it:

We’re into sustainability, by redistributing great stuff and saving it from landfill.

We’re into community, by making a great occasion for you to connect with people in your neighbourhood.

We’re into you making some money from stuff you would otherwise have thrown away, for you or your favourite charity.

So get up early and go treasure hunting people, I can't wait!

Good luck.

Softies For Mirabel - Craft For A Cause.

Hello and happy Monday!

Have you heard about Softies for Mirabel? It is a handmade Toy Drive and is the brainchild of by Pip Lincolne from the ever fabulous Meet me at Mikes.

The Mirabel Foundation supports kids who are affected by parental substance use and their extended families and carers, it's a great way of giving something to someone less fortunate that you, and what is better than a handmade toy?

It can be sewn, knitted, crocheted, stitched... it just has to be safe for a child. It doesn't matter if you don't think your skills are good enough, I am sure they are.... every toy helps.

In December they fill the window of Meet me at Mikes with all the toys but this year they are going to be in the heart of Melbourne on Degraves st at the CAE which is fantastic.

So this year I am getting behind this project and I will be making some toys to send, if anyone fancies joining me maybe we can get together and have a Toy making workshop or something?!

Deadline is November 30th, address and details on the poster below!

Examples of last years and previous windows:

If you'd like to see some past examples, there is a Flickr group or you can search #softiesformirabel tag on instagram.

So watch this space and let me know if you are keen to get together to Craft for a cause.

Southwood Stores - Shop Love

Happy Friday!

So, I am a big instagram fan.. [@shiztastic] I can't help it, it is packed full of gorgeous styling and fab craft things and every now and again you stumble across a new shop or designer and then you find yourself trawling through their photos and falling essentially, in love.

I am thinking about myself opening an online shop [one day I will have the real bricks and mortar but for now...] selling my stuff as well as sourced craft, design and vintage products. Just an idea at the mo but this shop has totally inspired and motivated me!

It is called Southwood Stores, UK based. You will find quirky, Scandinavian influenced gifts and homewares handpicked by Hayley herself, I think we have very similar tastes which is why I love her store so much! She is stocking some of my favourite UK Illustrators and designers such as Jane Foster and Laura Gee. It is just jam packed with fabulous homewares, stationary and giftware and lots of cute stuff for kids.

Here are a few of my favourite things currently in the shop:

So if you like shopping for awesome and unique stuff, check out Southwood Stores! I wish Hayley lots of success, I think her shop is fabulous.

She also has a fab BLOG

Go find FAB gifts for you and your home!

And have a good weekend!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream.

So, another class down and would I do it again? HELL YEAH!

I had my class with the kids at The School on Thursday and it was a great day.. they loved the projects and sped through them!

I also wanted to thank my fabulous friend Jess who was an awesome crafting and styling help on the day. You are a legend!

Just thought I would share a few snippets with you, they were so cute and we really did have a FUN day!

They all wanted to take home the big Ice Cream but in the end they seemed happy to have made their own little one!

If you come and follow me on Instragram @shiztastic you will see an awesome but very noisy video!

The Village Of Stitchester Is Open!

Well hello.

I have finally opened Stitchester's shop on Etsy. For those who don't know what Stitchester is, here is the story:

The idea for Stitchester was inspired by the quaint villages and market towns in my homeland of Sussex in England.

I created the whimsical, wonderful and delightfully tactile world of Stitchester, a quiet little village where the houses are soft and the streets are sewn. I want people to feel like they are strolling down it's handmade high street where they will find cakes and ice creams from the Lolly shop or a rosy apple from the green grocers.

Everything is made from fabrics both vintage and new, floral and kitsch - each piece is a unique one off soft sculpture.

Not everything in the village is quite as it seams, you will find cakes bigger than trees and a house the size of a child. You will also find things to wear and sit on as well as Illustrations of the village.

It all started as an exhibition in 2012 and the ideas have been growing ever since. I wanted to create a fictional fabric village where these ideas were real in fabric for me, and to make a tactile experience for others.

Stitchester combines my love of fabrics with playful design, Illustration and most of all, FUN. I like thinking up whimsical, bright and oversized things I could make and I have many more ideas in my sewing box....

You can find the interview I did for the exhibition at Sweets Workshop here.

And if you would like to stroll through the village of Stitchester on Etsy, please do here. I don't know why it has taken me so long to do it, it feels very exciting to be live on there again!

Hope you like it,

The Lady of Stitchester ;)
