Unwrap Etsy at David Jones

Well hello,

I hope you had a fabulous weekend… and did you get to the Unwrap Etsy at David Jones? I popped along a few times and met some great people and bought some fab handmade gifts for Christmas and met some makers.

It was a beautiful venue and EtsyAU did a wonderful job, everything was gorgeous. The macrame hanging baubles and giant flower pot holders were amazing and handmade! They are just fabulous.

I had lovely chats with sellers from all over Australia, some old favourites and some new shops that I have discovered which is always wonderful. A few of them are below....

I had a lovely time in this gorgeous space and I hope there will be more events like this in the future as it looked like a huge success to me. The photobooth was awesome fun, there was a wrapping station which was just beautiful and all the staff had cute aprons on!

But if you didn't get there, you can always shop online at Etsy and get all of your Christmas gifts from someone who put a whole lot of love into it. Support the handmade, you know you want to.

Happy festive shopping,

There are still 3 pop up's to go so go down and check out some local and fabulous work. Every week is different and there have been some gorgeous products so far..you can find more info here.

Hope you are having a fab week!

Sculptures By The Sea - Colourful Seaside Fun

Did you get to the sculptures? As usual we left it until the last weekend and so spent it with lots of other Sydney-Siders on a sunny afternoon. At least it wasn't raining like one year..

I had a clear favourite, the throne made of amazing plastic bits and pieces.. and yes I even queued to get a picture in it because I simply couldn't resist. I won't share it as I look rather ridiculous, on a throne ridiculous.

Another year, another colourful walk at Sculpture by the Sea.

Which one was your favourite? Until next year...

Etsy Pop Up Market - Rocks Village Bizarre

Hi there!

So I thought I would do a little write up on the opening night at The Village Bizarre night markets in the Rocks. It was the first in our 7 week Etsy pop up markets and it was a huge success!

There were 7 stallholders, each looked wonderful and our Etsy Village had a great handcrafted vibe. The Etsy Au photobooth was great fun and got the crowds excited.

Here are a few pics, it is on every Friday until the 19th of December so do pop down, I will be having a stall on Fri 28th so come say hello.

There is so much going on at The Village Bizarre, it makes for a fun and different Friday night for sure! Feast on tasty treats while listening to some live music and buy a unique gift, sounds good to me any day.

Fancy A Fruity Quencher?

Today I was really hankering for a fruity drink [after cycling with too many groceries] so I whizzed up a little recipe that quenched my thirst but as usual I made too much so I made some delicious fruity frozen pops too! Well once they freeze..

I Thought I would share my delicious little afternoon quench.

Fruity Quencher Pops

100 g watermelon
200g nectarine
Half a punnet of Strawberries
About 2 cups of sparkling water
Squeeze of Limey goodness
Splash of summer love

Have fun and freeze your fruits!

A healthy summer snack, sounds good to me.

Softies For Mirabel Workshop - 2014

Hi guys!

Happy Monday..

Crafters, Makers, knitters, this one is for you!

You might remember last year I got together with Sew Make Create to co-host a Softies for Mirabel workshop, well we are doing it again!

Sew Make Create

Thursday 13th November
6.45 - 9.15

Softies for Mirabel is an annual toy drive started 7 years ago by blogger and craft queen Pip Lincolne from Meet me at Mikes. The Mirabel foundation supports kids who are affected by parental substance abuse. Come and make a toy with us that will be sent to Melbourne to be matched with a Mirabel kid, one toy can bring so much joy so it's a wonderful to do.

The toy must be handmade in some way, they do not want new or donated items. This is a handmade toy drive, I am hosting the workshop as a representative from the Sydney Etsy team and will be there to help and inspire you to make a toy as well as making one or two myself!

There are limited spaces so if you would like to come and join in then please book a spot here!

You will need to bring along your own supplies, there will be sewing machines and basic sewing tools available including some fabric scraps for stuffing your toy :)

If you would like to make a toy but can't come on the night, you can drop it off at the shop and there is more info here. The toy drive is open to anyone participating so make one at home!

It is just a $4 donation which goes towards postage for the toys and to cover tea and coffee for the night :)

Hope to see you there,

Garage Sale Trail Treats 2014

So last Saturday, 25th October was the wonderful Garage Sale Trail. For anyone who knows me well enough, this is my favourite day of the year [In the southern hemisphere anyway!]

Thousands of people across the country have garage sales and then thousands trawl through and save it all from landfill. To give old things a new life and let someone else enjoy the item whether it be clothes, baking equipment or a a beautiful basket. [ I was good and walked away from several this year...]

So I thought I would share with you a few of my treasures and a few snaps of the fun we had with the amazing rainbow mural:

I think the shoes are my best purchase, I actually bought a pink pair from the same woman last year and she remembered me! This year she was selling these gorgeous Italian leather shoes and they fit like a dream. The blue ones are just so beautifully 80's.

The hubbletron was very impressed with his gift, Bertrand Russell's autobiography. Brownie points scored!

So what treasures did you find on the trail? I'd love to hear and see!
